Description
Perfect balance, natural stability, and a smooth and gentle contact with the horse are the keys to success both on the ground and in the saddle. The aim of rider, trainer, and internationally renowned clinician Peggy Cummings’ Connected Riding® system is to attain a well-balanced riding position via the use of visualization techniques and by analyzing your own mistakes in posture and movement. The rider learns to support the horse’s movement rather than inhibit it, and to encourage the horse to accept more weight on his hindquarters.
Connected Groundwork® is a series of exercises that release tension and physical “blocks.” Gentle, soft movements and touches enhance the contact between the handler and the horse, and prepare the horse for communication and collection before he is ridden. Peggy Cummings and her mentors, Sally Swift and Linda Tellington-Jones, helped shift the riding paradigm from “cramming and jamming” to a new model of horsemanship—one that honors horses out of knowledge and balance rather than fear and force. Cummings teaches her methods of Connected Riding and Connected Groundwork worldwide, and helps countless students discover their own way to better riding. She lives in Poulsbo, Washington.
