By Peter Leone and Kimberly Jaussi Ph.D. After completing a successful junior career, Peter Leone won the International Jumping Derby in Newport, Rhode Island at the age of twenty; then regarded as the most challenging show jumping event in the nation. Throughout his life, Peter has trained with many prominent horsemen including Bertlan DeNemethy, Frank Chapot, George Morris and Michael Matz. Peter is the middle of three brothers who rode as Team Leone. He has been competing successfully on the Grand Prix circuit for almost two decades and has built a distinguished resume during his professional career. Peter is a Member of the United States Equestrian Team and has represented the United States on numerous occasions including in 1982 when he helped the U.S. finish fourth in the World Championships in Dublin, Ireland, and in 1996 when he and Crown Royal Legato were part of the USET's Silver Medal team at the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta. He has also won for the United States at many prominent international competitions. | |
